GHW Support for Construction of the New C.S. Mott Children's Hospital

$812,367.73 from GHW & Woodson's $800,000 commitment for capital projects for the new Mott Hospital


Woodson helped achieve the vision for the new U-M C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital and Von Voigtlander Women’s Hospital and supported this capital project from the beginning. Specifically, the funds from GHW helped create some of the building’s most spectacular spaces, including

At the 2008 Event, the football toss raised funds to keep Maddie’s Storybook Cottage at Mott in order to delight and distract Mott patients for many years to come.

The 2009 GHW Gala Event raised money to name the Michigan Congenital Heart Family Support Area on the 11th floor of the new hospital. Over 600 families have found respite and comfort in this area since the building’s opening in Fall 2012.

Proceeds from the 2010 GHW Gala Event went towards creating the spectacular University of Michigan football playroom on the 8th level, where kids can have their very own football experience: run through the tunnel, play a game, be the quarterback and hang out in the locker room.

Soaring spaces, rainbow colors and dangling butterflies greet and soothe parents and children as they enter the lobby of the Mott Hospital. Among the other surprises in store for the families and patients is an appearance by Charles Woodson. With the help of “3D Woodson,” a new mobile app custom made for Mott, Mr. Woodson can be brought to life by any Mott visitor with an iPad or iPhone. The technology behind the app, called augmented reality, has never been used in a healthcare setting before.
