GHW Support for Coach Carr's Moutaintop Experience Initative

$1,067,183.00 raised by GHW for the Moutain Top Experience Initative

Coach Carr always talked about a Mountain Top Experience. In August 1997, Coach Carr gathered his team in front of Schembechler Hall and read from the book “Into Thin Air,” which carries the message “that in order to reach a Mountain Top Experience, we’ve got to find a cause greater than ourselves.”

The Mountain Top Initative helps kids at C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital cope, have fun and find their own Mountain Top Experiences despite the medical challenges they face. The goal of the Mountain Top Initative is to provide support for patient and families, by helping to reduce the trauma of hospitalization. The initative will support the needs of the patients in a variety of ways such as helping children to keep up with their schoolwork, providing medical play, art and music therapy and allowing a child to be a child during their stay at Mott. With gifts from former players, coaches and others, GHW has raised over $1,000,000 to help make Coach Carr’s dreams a reality.
